Ever since they started building The Shard my husband has been pretty excited by it. He worked for Shangri-La at one point and really loves the chain, and they just happen to be the hotel that were setting up shop in The Shard. Needless to say, he went to the hotel pretty soon after they opened and he could not stop telling me how amazing his lunch was. I got a bit jealous, why don't I get to lunch with a view? I am his wife now, after all, so he promised to take me to experience the view. Who doesn't love a good sky bar or restaurant?
They do a great menu with 2 courses for £27 and the view is free! The menu changes fairly often, so it's not the same old same old all the time (not that we are planning on going once a month, but it's good to know that we COULD if we so wished) and the dishes are beautifully presented. They tasted good too, always a plus.
I really enjoyed the time we had there, lunch didn't feel rushed and we had plenty of time in-between courses, our waiter was also really nice and friendly. After 2 courses I couldn't manage dessert, but I did manage a coffee, just. We continued the afternoon in the bar at Oblix (also in The Shard) with bellinis and then staggered home and skipped dinner completely. A very good day.
I'm Christine and I currently live in London with my husband where I do my best to go to as many restaurants as possible, bake, DIY and occasionally let my hair down and go to a museum. x
