First time I tried on wedding dresses I ran into the wedding dress shop with my maid of honour. We were late because we were late and ended up rushing to the tube and running from the station all the way to the store. I was sweaty. It was of course one of those amazingly beautiful and warm days, which made the store like a mini sauna, which made me sweat even more. I can't even begin to think how I must have looked when I was handed a used corset to put on. Ehm, I don't wear other peoples underwear, thanks. This corset was definitely not made for me or my body shape. It might have enhanced my upper torso, but it did absolutely nothing for my belly, if anything it made it look bigger and rounder. Not necessarily a look you go for when you are trying on sample size wedding dresses. Let's not forget my choice of underwear: the skimpiest pair of underwear I own. Bad choice. Note to all brides to be, wear white and wear the biggest panties you own. You will have a stranger spending a lot of time getting you in and out of dresses and they get to spend plenty of time in very close proximity to your personal parts so the more you cover up, the better for both of you. The shop assistant took my underwear choice fairly well and I think I was more uncomfortable about the situation that she was, but still, I feel for her. Sorry Becca, you didn't deserve that.
The thing is really that when I started writing this I was utterly frustrated and maybe a bit annoyed about this whole wedding dress business. Then I gave the wedding dress trying thing a second chance, took my mum to see the current favourites and got a bit of perspective. Things were looking up, I was relaxing and on the last day of trying, when I put on a dress I was just not 100% sure about but had tried on twice before I just realised it was the dress I felt most comfortable in. My mum loved it, I think I loved it and I just thought "let's do it!". I didn't buy it there and then, but I have found the one. Finally.
