So, Shanghai it is for my first visit to mainland China. This city is very different from Tokyo, it is bustling, chaotic loud, unorganised, colourful and vibrant. And it photographs well. It's been named the Paris of the east, but for me this is far from Paris, although the former French Concession area might be the reason why Paris has come to mind. We started our stay here with a visit to the Jade Buddha Temple which was the most traditional looking place we have been in Shanghai. The temple was packed with both tourists and locals carrying out rituals that were unfamiliar to us. It is so interesting to see this temple placed in the middle of a modern city like Shanghai, what really gets to me are the contrasts this place has to offer. 'm slowly getting to grips and deciding exactly how I feel about this chaotic city, for someone who loves order and organisation, Shanghai can be a challenge.
I'm Christine and I currently live in London with my husband where I do my best to go to as many restaurants as possible, bake, DIY and occasionally let my hair down and go to a museum. x
