At the airport in NYC there was quite a lot to choose from when it came to food, and also nothing at all. We had a really early breakfast in Brooklyn so I wasn't in a breakfast mood, but I was hungry and it was way to early for lunch. So when you want to eat that in-between meal and your choice is between pizza, burgers, Thai food and more burgers, it was easy to find ourselves queuing up at Shake Shack at 11am. A tad early for a burger normally bit you know, when in NYC and all that. It's been a long time since I have eaten a Shake Shack burger, 4 years to be precise and I couldn't really remember what the big deal was. They have opened in London but wih so many new restaurants to try in London they never made it high up on my list. Maybe well enough as the flavours were good, but the whole thing was pretty greasy and slippery. Not how I normally have my burgers. We also ordered the cheese fries as I remember these with particular fondness, but when I tried them again I wasn't sure why. Not bad, but not something I need to order again either. Now the fries on their own, they packed a punch. Crispy, skin-on, hand cut (are they? Not sure but they look like they could be!) and golden. I could eat those again. And I still have to try the frozen custard at some point, it just sounds interesting.
