Family affairs are fun days, and also very long days, and call for your finest clothes which means Bunad(I quite enjoyed this Wikipedia post describing what a bunad is) is the only way to go. I love my bunad more than most things, and especially the hat. There was a time when I was applying to summer jobs that would allow me to wear the bunad all summer long. Never got the jobs unfortunately, so any time I can wear the bunad now it comes out of the cupboard faster than you can say, well, "bunad". This time the family affair was my cousins confirmation and I had a great time, I love seeing the family but when you live in London and they are all in Norway it takes a bit of effort and a very unpleasant Ryanair experience to make it happen.
We had a fabulous 3 course meal which turned into a cake party and well, time flew and before you know it it was evening and definitely bedtime, I think that is what you can call a sugar induced coma. I had so much I had to unbutton my dress and find a sofa to lie down on. Family affairs are dangerous for your health!
I'm Christine and I currently live in London with my husband where I do my best to go to as many restaurants as possible, bake, DIY and occasionally let my hair down and go to a museum. x
