Back from an amazing mini break in Ascot it is difficult to decide what was the best part of the week end. We arrived on Thursday evening and spent some time in the amazing room before we dressed for dinner and went to the main house to Restaurant Coworth Park. It is the fine dining restaurant at the hotel and it is worth a visit. On Monday to Thursday they also offer a set menu for £40, which includes a glass of wine, 3 courses, coffee and chocolates. It's a steal.
This is truffle and mushroom brioche, it tastes as good as it sounds/looks. I had too many and part spoiled my appetite but looking back it was definitely worth it. My next baking project is truffle and mushroom bread.
Dinner itself was as good as the truffle brioche. Trout, lamb and the grand finale was the biggest tarte tatin I have ever seen, enough to feed at least 4 hungry people for dessert we shared one (not by choice, this was decided by the waiters) and actually finished it. I left proud and very full. The tatin was so succulent and moist, sweet but with flavours of the apples and the pastry was crispy and flaky. Maybe something to attempt at home? I also loved the restaurant decorations; the ceiling was covered by bronze leaves and acorns which hints to the country location and feel of the hotel.
I'm Christine and I currently live in London with my husband where I do my best to go to as many restaurants as possible, bake, DIY and occasionally let my hair down and go to a museum. x
