All couples need date nights, when the TV is off and dinner is consumed at a table and not on the couch/bed. A night when you talk to each other instead of surfing the net or checking out Instagram (me) and sports news (him) while not actually watching what's on TV. It's nice to have a chat and know that you are on the same page, and still know each others names. A month after we got married (OMG it's been a month already!) we met in Soho to grab something to eat. I wanted to try the chorizo sausage rolls at Ham Yard Hotel (saw them on Instagram last week!) and the husband wanted to go to a place called Prix Fixe, so we did both. First we went to Ham Yard for a glass of wine and some duck with hoi sin sauce sliders and the exciting sausage rolls. Both delicious btw. Loved the hotel (it's a part of the Firmdale chain and I always love their hotels) but you could feel that they opened on 1st June. Like how they got our wine wrong and poured rose when we ordered white wine, and when we asked if it was, indeed white wine, the waitress said yes, she was sure it was white wine. Once the bill arrived , there you go, it was rose wine. Expensive rose wine. But even after that, I would definitely go back.
After the whole mess with the bill at Ham Yard, we wandered over to Prix Fixe. I was beyond starving, which is why I ordered deep fried brie and then sole in buttery sauce, went a bit overboard maybe. It was yummy, but man was I incredibly full and possibly a bit tipsy by the end of it all. Prix Fixe does an amazing deal for lunch where 2 courses is £10, so definitely worth a visit, even full price meals in the evening is worth it! Book though, it was very busy even at 9pm on a Monday.
I'm Christine and I currently live in London with my husband where I do my best to go to as many restaurants as possible, bake, DIY and occasionally let my hair down and go to a museum. x
