There is nothing better than travelling when you know a local that can show you around. The bride from last weekends wedding is from Czech and although she was in the middle of planning and stressing before the wedding she and her fiance (now husband!) took us out to dinner. We are a bit of travel nerds so we arrived one day earlier than everyone else that were attending the wedding. Excited much?
I was not at all familiar with the Czech cuisine before this weekend, but I am a fan. Their dishes are quite heavy and there isn't a lot of salad on offer, so not maybe good for a long period of time, but a weekend? Bring it on. The picture above is beer cheese, yes, even after trying it I have no clue what was in that jar, but the pretzel was amazing.
After a shared selection of starters (several not pictured) I have to admit that our lunch was seriously heavy and so I had to order something a bit lighter. I went for salmon tartar and the husband went for gulash, very traditional. Such a lovely meal, great to spend some quality time with friends and try out something new, in a new city. Travelling is fun!
I'm Christine and I currently live in London with my husband where I do my best to go to as many restaurants as possible, bake, DIY and occasionally let my hair down and go to a museum. x
