Possibly the best Christmas related DIY this year. Do you think Miley Cyrus ever imagined "Wrecking Ball" would turn into this huge thing it has? Read the comments on this web page, some really good jokes there. I got the template for Miley here, if you feel inclined to make your own. Maybe make one and put it on your parents tree and then wait patiently for someone to notice. It's the little things.
After spending a lot of time around tea lately (a side effect of working in a tea room I guess) I am finding myself thinking I might need a lot of teapots at home to, you know, drink tea. But due to space issues and just generally not needing that many teapots I thought I would feature them here, then it feels like I have some sort of ownership even though I don't have them here in the apartment.

All the teapots can be found on eBay at the moment and I searched for "Novelty Teapot", how amazing is the foxy lady? She is on eBay for more than £200 so will never be mine, but she is quite spectacular I think. Something for grandma?
Turns out that I spend a lot of time on this internet, and I come across several funny and worthwhile things on my internet travels. I just don't know who to share them with! So I thought I would include some links here, and if you are bored and feel like clicking one, go on.
Who doesn't need to know how to make towel animals?
I would like these button knobs on all cupboards and drawers at home.
Ready for Halloween? Make your own cards with any of these fonts.
And save this one for last, reading George Saunders speech to graduates and think a little bit about kindness and what YOU can do to make life worthwhile.
And the funny photo is from here.
Let me explain here, I'm not mad (much) and there will be questions and situations in life when the answer will not be Ryan Gosling. Obviously. However, this guy is absolutely everywhere lately and it's quite understandable. If you wonder why, I assume that is because today is the first time you lay eyes on Mr Gosling. How does that feel? Wondering why no one told you about the Gos before? Me too.
If you happen to find yourself Googling Ryan Gosling (and why wouldn't you?!?) you will get "About 74,600,000" results of various quality. Don't aim to go through all of these, just spend 5 minutes browsing the images and you should really be feeling better. That's the thing about the Gos, he makes me feel better. And it's time he makes you feel better too. Follow me. Let's imagine you have had a bad day at work and life seem to be getting worse, not better. Look at this photo:
That should have put a tiny smile on your face. Feeling better now? How about those Monday mornings you wake up and finally start thinking about what you ate over the weekend, get on those evil scales out and watch the damage you have done show itself in numbers. Now read this:
What about when you need motivation? Or you are unsure if you should be hitting the books or the bars? Ryan has the answer:
I'm glad we got that out of our system. But don't worry, I'm not done yet. There is a dangerous/genius website that you should know about if you would like to have every photo on a website temporarily changed into photos of Ryan Gosling. Intrigued are we? Click here and make magic. And then there is the YouTube video that has made me smile this week. If you happen to type Ryan Gosling into the search bar in YouTube (and again, why wouldn't you?!?!) this video is one of the most popular. I am sad to say that I enjoy it immensely.
And with that I think it's time to wish all of us a great weekend and also confirm that I am still very much engaged to be married despite the mini obsession with Ryan Gosling. But after all, he is Ryan Gosling. Enough said.
Just a little reminder this Thursday that it can be good to calm down every now and then. I found this picture on Pinterest, no surprise there I guess...
Last night a song from dirty dancing popped into my head, which made me think of the dirty dancing movie which led to a trip down my favourite movies memory lane.
The first movie I loved was Casper the friendly ghost, and with it came my first celebrity crush. I remember seeing this movie in the cinema when it came out and thinking that the guy playing Casper, we were basically the same age, was just unbelievably cute. When I watched the same movie some 10+ years later, expecting this hunk to show up at the end of the movie, and a 13 year old boy appeared, I was mildly grossed out.
The second movie I loved was not just one movie, but two. It was of course sister act 1 and 2 with Whoopi Goldberg. At that time I proclaimed to my step brother, who is the same age as me, that my favourite actress in the whole world was Whoopi Goldberg, closely followed by Goldie Hawn in second place. Every Christmas he reminds me of this while he is trying to stop himself from laughing out loud, he still thinks it’s that funny. But Whoopi had something, and who doesn't love a good musical/nun story?
My third cinematic love came in the form of a dynamic trio of ladies: Goldie Hawn, Diane Keaton and Bette Midler. I have a feeling this movie passed you by, but this is still, to this day, my all-time favourite. That means it trumps Troy and that scene where brad Pitt is naked. Really. It is of course the first wives club. Never seen it you say? Well haven't you missed out. This is a semi feministic gem of a movie, and they sing at the end. Get.it.now. Or don't, but at least you know it exists.
And the last movie crush I had was Mean Girls. Honest to god, I love this movie. I can quote lines, and often do (sad), but it is my happy movie. If I need some headless entertainment this goes in the DVD player and I can spend some time in a world so incredibly far removed from mine. Thanks Lindsay Lohan, I owe you one.
So I am curious, what are your favourite movies?

Guess what I am doing right at this moment? No idea? Cocktails anyone? Dreams? Yes, that's Tom Cruise in the classic film from so long ago I don't even want to think about it (1988!!!). I think Tom Cruise feels the same. But no matter how T feels about it, this is a feel good movie. You have to love Tom's good looks, the passion, the girls, the REALLY high hair and the love story at the core. Who want's to open a place called Cocktails & Dreams with me? I'll be Tom Cruise, you can be the Australian guy.
Forget about the bad mood, I'm over it. I have a smile on my face and the only reason is this trailer above. Yep, that would be Season 4 of Arrested Development. Many haven't seen this show, and of course, you have missed out and would be sitting there right now, reading this post, wondering why this makes me happy instantly. The reason is of course that the show is back! It was cancelled in 2006 and it was a bad time for us AD fans. But now, now we get our fix once again. It's just too good: the actors, the plot, the characters. I. AM. IN. LOVE. So what will I be doing on Sunday when it launches on Netflix?!? Watching it, silly. And you should too!
It's not exactly the welcome I got when I arrived at Gatwick on Sunday, but isn't it fantastic? I know it is an advert, but I just love how fun it looks, how surprised all the passengers are when they get into the arrivals hall and how amazing those singers are. If you haven't watched it, I suggest you do.
Last night we went for dinner at a local restaurant as a gift to ourselves since we did so well with our cleaning and organising efforts (it took basically from 10am until 5pm to get everything done). But as I am still trying to stay away from excessive amounts of sugar and am not always a fan of restaurant desserts, we though we could make apple crumble at home. We had 1 apple each, which the boyfriend sliced up and cooked in a saucepan with some vanilla sugar, cinnamon and a tiny bit of water, just to make them a little bit softer. The crumble topping was made of oats, cinnamon, a tiny bit of vanilla sugar and butter. I have no clue how hot the oven was or how long they were cooking, it's all a bit off the cuff when we make something we have made many times before. The only thing I will do next time, is cut down a bit on the butter, I just added ingredients to the crumble and it ended up being a bit more buttery than normal. The crumble tasted good though, served with vanilla ice cream while watching The Jonathan Ross Show. A very good Saturday evenin
I'm Christine and I currently live in London with my husband where I do my best to go to as many restaurants as possible, bake, DIY and occasionally let my hair down and go to a museum. x
