The Brits do several things right, but when it get's dark at 4pm, its cold and windy, and it's dark when you get up in the morning, nobody cares about afternoon tea or the royal family. It's all about getting home to the couch and some good TV. And of course British produced TV shows. Here is my top list of TV, so if you are looking for a new show to glue yourself to, bring it on!
First up is obv Downton Abbey, which I believe doesn't need much of an introduction. And you have probably seen it, or made a conscious choice to avoid it, which you should be regretting deeply. Get on Amazon now and buy all the seasons.
I know I have mentioned Fresh Meat before, but I need to include this show, because it's basically my favourite show. Ever.
It took some time before I managed to find myself enjoying The Inbetweeners, and the reason for that is basically that sometimes it makes me feel uncomfortable. I am not usually a fan of shows that are slightly embarrassing which is why I leave the room if X-factor or something similar is on TV. No thanks, Simon Cowell.
From The Inbetweeners there isn't a large leap to Friday Night Dinner, as one of the main Inbetweeners is starring in this show. If you think you have a special family and feel like nobody understands, watch this, and you soon realise someone else feels exactly the way you do.
This is an oldy, but goody: Not Going Out. The driest British humour you will find on TV, but it's funny. And I love how they haven't splashed out on all the filters those Americas love to use, the actors in this show look like normal people, no airbrushing needed.
Miranda Hart is one of the actresses in Not Going Out, but she also has her own show, which has the same British dry humour, and shows a single gal really trying to get her life on track, but lacking about 90% of your normal social skills and always making stuff awkward. And that's the list! Now no complaining about the weather or having nothing to do.
I'm Christine and I currently live in London with my husband where I do my best to go to as many restaurants as possible, bake, DIY and occasionally let my hair down and go to a museum. x
