The same old tree we have had all December, but while playing with my new camera I managed to snap some good pictures and a lot of very bad ones. I love this one of the tree, it's like seeing it in real life!
Lucky me went to Oslo for Christmas, hence very little time to take pictures and spend time on blogging. Some pictures from my time at home (with a new camera that I am struggling a bit to get used to/understand).
I always thought the 12 days of Christmas were leading up to Christmas Eve, but it turns out that it is the 12 days AFTER the 24th of December, basically December 26th until January 6th. If you want to read a bit more about the history click here. And now that we are in this period I am trying to keep the Christmas spirit up with home made mince pies and treats from The Dorchester
I love anything with a bit of Karl, so how exciting is it that he is launching an online exclusive collection on January 25th, which happens to be my birthday! How sweet he thought of me... And I know it's a long video, but he is so adorable with his iPad and several iPhones in a super chic Celine case. Totally in tune with technology!
Definitely the dream tree, if only Alber Elbaz had come to Willesden Green to pimp my tree as well as the one at Claridge's...
On Thursday last week my other half surprised me with a trip to the History Museum skating rink in South Kensington and dinner at Brompton Bar and Grill. A very nice surprise and a fantastic evening, and the food at BB&G was so good, I am dying to go back to have more of their fish stew...
What's better than making some of the gifts yourself this christmas? These are all very easy to make and can be done in an evening. And they are tasty!
Chocolate truffles made with this recipe and coated in chocolate, coocoa powder or chopped almonds. Store in the freezer until you are ready to give them away.
Cherry Jam from this recipe which smells delicious, the brandy makes it a bit more grown up.
Home made oils which needs no recipe at all, just add some semi good olive oil to a bottle where you have added the spices of your choice, I used rosemary with garlic and chili on its own. Very decorative and so easy!
I always thought fudge was so incredibly difficult to make so I never tried, but the other day I found myself surfing the Martha Stewart webiste and I came over a recipe entitled 'Simple Fudge'. And I love anything that is simple so I went right ahead and made the fudge. And it was good, disturbingly good, and just so easy. This recipe will rival the shortbread one I use, and I am thinking in the directions of orange infused fudge and mint infused fudge as my next steps. This is something ANYONE can make. I mean it.
...I would spend it on one of these as a Christmas present to myself!
A couple of weeks ago I received one of the weekly newsletters from Gwyneth Palthrow's Goop website. The newsletters contain different stuff and is usually created around a theme. So the newsletter I am talking about had Art as the theme, more specifically it was abut collecting art. And as I can't help myself I went straight online to sign up to any artsy website I could find and now receive at least one art newsletter every day. I also decided that I am becoming an art collector. I do understand that this will take time, and way more money that I can get my hands on right now, but it seems like a good idea and one can always start in the small. So I would spend a couple of hours online looking at art and seeing if I could find anything I felt it was worth investing in as a first piece and then I came across the photography of Marina Papaspirou which I fell for immediately. There is just something so peaceful and beautiful about her pictures that appealed to me and I quickly ordered 2 small prints which are now awaiting framing and a place to hang. And there you go, my first pieces of art! If you want to see more of the flower photography or buy one for yourself Marina has a profile on Etsy.
I'm Christine and I currently live in London with my husband where I do my best to go to as many restaurants as possible, bake, DIY and occasionally let my hair down and go to a museum. x
