Someone told me (unwisely) about this Waitrose Fudge which I just HAD to try and which has turned into a replacement for lunch, which is obviousely not good and I need to get rid of the rest before I OD on sugar! But they are really good and knowing myself they will find their way into my kitchen again sooner rather than later.
I have tried to add a couple of halloween inspired elements to our apartment in honour of the celebration, but I am still missing some fake spiders and baby pumkins to make things complete, although that will probably not happen before tomorrow, if at all... Still, a fake bat and glittery skulls still makes things a bit more Halloween inspired!
I was early for work again yesterday, I don't know what has gotten into me lately but I am embracing it and yesterday the extra time was used window shopping in Matches. If only someone would give me their stuff for free...
Even as autumn is upon us London is sunny and inviting me to walk its streets. Unfortunately there is no time for that today with work getting in the way but I there is always time to write a bit about Broadway Market and dream of almond croissants while sitting at the kitchen table secretly planning what to wear tonight rather than getting work done!
This is a bit of an embarrasing story, but it's still worthy of sharing so here goes:
Yesterday I sat next to a mum with 3 kids at a cafe and one of her daughters was showing of her new Fresh Sugar Liptreatment. And my immediate reaction was that I HAVE to have one. I don't know what came across me but it was like I had no choice, and since the Fresh store is across the street from where I work I spent 4 hours at work staring at the facade of the store and waiting for a break so I could run over there and get one. And I did. And I love it!
Yesterday I got to work early and I don't know how that happened! Who has extra time in the morning?? So I wisely spent my 30 minutes in Le Pain Quotidien with a cappuchino and a scone, although my picture taking skills aren't really showing off that one so well... Then off to work where I had to borrow a scarf from the By Malene Birger autumn collection not to die of cold, a sandwich at Pret=dinner and off to an Alumni event for my old uni at The Connaught, where I have never been before. I find it a bit weird when they have a woman employed who turns on the tap for you in the bathroom. I think I prefer to be in charge of my own bathroom breaks...
And he is warm and cuddly! This little charmer was shipped to me from Amazon and has a microwaveable tummy that I use to warm hands and feet when it's getting cold. And he smells like lavender. Can't get better.
It fits my computer, iPad, 2 note books, useless stuff, an extra scarf, an A4 leather folder for papers and some emergency chocolate all at the same time. It's big but doesn't look like it is, it fits nicely on my shoulder, I love the colour and the way it closes with the leather strap. It's useful and it's pretty, it's from Su Misura and hand made all the way!
These past few weeks I have been baking and cooking like crazy, I don’t know what came over me but I am fearing for my health (it’s dangerous to have tons of cake at home at all times) and have to get to the gym sooner rather than later. That being said, my current baking repertoire is: cinnamon rolls which were delicious, my better half baked banana and choc chip muffins, there was the foccacia a couple of weeks ago, some almond croissants and all the cooking in between. But even so I still couldn’t stop thinking about one cake, and that was the apple cake I used to bake when I was younger. Soft, moist, fragrant and sweet filled with thin slices of apple and the heavenly smell of cinnamon. What could be better? I really had no choice, it had to be baked… You can find the recipe here.
I'm Christine and I currently live in London with my husband where I do my best to go to as many restaurants as possible, bake, DIY and occasionally let my hair down and go to a museum. x
