Get ready to go to Portobello Road/Soho to have a Mexican fiesta in your mouth! I went to El Camion last week and loved it. It's quite a fun and young atmosphere and more of a lunch place than romantic dinner place, but make that a boozed up lunch, their margaritas are great. I think prices are good for quality food and you can get away with a tenner for lunch if you choose right (with a drink). We tried the chorizo quesedillas to start and went for a shared taco thing as a main, but we would have been more than happy without a starter since the portions are quite big.
In honour of the Diamnond Jubilee Harrods have asked 31 designers to create crowns to display in their windows (Ps. I want to go and see this ASAP). Paul Smith, Globetrotter and more have created their special crowns, some are made with chocolate, one is in glass. The window display went up on the 15th of May and will last until June 10th. It's just so extravagant, I want one. Imagine wearing the cocolate one to a ball and having it as a late night snack while on the night bus, the diamond one just because it's disgustingly expensive or the Paul Smith one with all it's British icons. Love.
I just watched an episode of Michael McIntyre's Comedy Roadshow from 2010 where Daniel Sloss (then 19, yes 19 years old!! It's wild) had the above segment. I like. Admittedly, most UK comedians are quite funny, but I think it's worth watching out for this guy. And anything Michael McIntyre does, he is comedy personified.
Of course there is a Tea Guild in the UK that every year has a list detailing the best Afternoon Teas in London. For 2012 they gave the top price to the Athenaeum Hotel (and I have never been, embarrasing!) which is now on the top of my "London Restaurant to-do list" (right after a mexican place we will go to this weekend). I'll also be adding the Milestone, The Goring and The Chesterfield Mayfair. It will be a busy summer, scones here I come!
It was time for me to say goodbye to Oslo and the amazing weather yesterday and I thought that I would end up in London with endless days of rain. And guess what, it's amazingly sunny! It's so warm I almost can't believe it, it feels like I am on holiday in my own garden. I have to open all the windows/doors in the apartment to be able to stay inside without experiencing severe sweating, but no complaints, I love good weather. And of course it is entertaining when some extremely drunk neighbour puts on music from 1995 and sings along and at the same time is shouting abuse at the world. Charming. I am going to South Ken to a meeting and wish I had some ice cream to cool down with, and, how convenient, there is a Snog by South Kensington Station. See you there!
Almost all Chanel from the June issue of American Elle, in honour of the little black jacket book they are releasing this year.
Yesterday I spent the afternoon celebrating one of my closest friends back in Norway, Anette has featured here before ( although not with a picture, she is secretly featuring in several blog posts when she comes to visit) and yesterday was her birthday. She must have been an awfully good girl this past year becsue the sun came out like never before and slightly roasted us all afternoon. I drank tons of water, to replenish what I lost by sweating in the heat. It was lovely. No really, it was. There was rose wine, sparkling wine with strawberries, real strawberries, BBQ and in general good times. I think it's the prefect way to spend your last day in Oslo if you are going back to London the next day, which I was, and also the perfect birthday afternoon. The birthday girl contnued her night at The Nighthawk Diner with her family (it's on my Oslo restaurant "to-do" list) while I went home to pack my suitcase and look for cheap tickets to come back to Oslo as soon as possible.
Inspired by a DIY on Stripes and Sequins a little while back I decided it was about time I got down and dirty with a bit of acrylic something and I believe one an never have too many clutches. And so this little baby was born, and I am itching to take it out soon, maybe even this weekend.
Trust Prada to come up with a different video to showcase their brand, this time Helena Bonham Carter goes to therapy, fully clad in Prada to talk her heart out.
I'm Christine and I currently live in London with my husband where I do my best to go to as many restaurants as possible, bake, DIY and occasionally let my hair down and go to a museum. x
